One of the most famous ice cream desserts would have to be the ice cream sundae. Next to the banana split, it is one of the most served ice cream desserts in the United States. A Sundae is just a bowl filled with ice cream and then topped with some type of sauce or syrup. The most common types of sundaes are chocolate caramel, butterscotch, or strawberry. Other toppings are placed on a sundae, but are not part of the orginal makeup. In fact, nuts, dairy cream, and cherries are just an addition to the wonder sundae.
A sundae is called a sundae because most local laws band Ice Cream sodas to be made on Sunday, so this treat was made to be eaten on a Sunday. It was stated that ice cream sodas were too “sinful” and the sundae is just perfect a Sunday afternoon.
The sundae is perfect because it wasn’t too indulging. It’s just one scoop of icecream with a little sweet topping. The spelling came from an old myth that a glass salesman gave Two Rivers canoe shaped bowls. To pay tribute to the bowls the e was used instead of a y. Or maybe the spelling of the sundae didn’t come from Two Rivers. It is also stated that it is spelled s-u-n-d-a-e so as not to disgrace the meaning of Sunday as a treat. Even though the sundae is easy to make, the history is hard to recall. In fact, many people are disputing where the treat came to life.
Do you know where the birthplace of the sundae is? There are various claims to this treat. One claim is that the sundae was invented in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, but they also took back their claim. It has also been claimed that the sundae was also first developed in Plainfield, Illinois, Evanston, Illinois, New York City, New Orleans, Louisiana, Cleveland, Ohio, Buffalo, NewYork, and Ithaca, New York.
However the rivalry is between Ithaca and Two Rivers. In 2006 the mayor Ithaca had dozens of complaints from Two Rivers about the claim to the title. It was a reponse to Ithaca after they claimed they had proof of the sundae orginality in their town. To Ithaca it is an honor that they will fight for. Two River’s claim that the sundae formed in their town because 1881 a soda jerk poured chocolate syrip over ice cream. It was sold only on Sundays in Two Rivers.
Ithaca’s claim to fame was to be in 1891, a local pastor placed bowls of ice cream with chocolate syrup and a cherry on top just as a new treat. The sundae can go back as far was 1892, where documented advertisements for cherry sundaes were featured.
Who knows who really invented the sundae, but boy do they taste good! There are many different types of sundaes that you can purcahse all over the country. You have the classic hot fudget sundae which is the most popular type of sundae. Most of the time it is made with vanilla ice cream, but chocolate ice cream has also been a popular form. You have also heard of the carmel sundae. With a caramel sauce drizzeled on top of vanilla ice cream and usually has pecans thrown on top.
You can also find the strawberry sundae at any local store, but there are many other flavors that are offered now. You can get pineapple, marshmellow (in where a creamy sauce is poured over vanilla ice cream), blueberry, raspberry, cold chocolate, and banana and so on. There are over hundred different types of sundaes, but the most expensive sundae to be documented was sold for thousand American dollars.
It consists of five scoops of rich vanilla bean ice cream covered in edible gold leafs that are made from a rare and expensive chocolate. Then it is covered with passion fruit, oranges, golden caviar, and candied fruits. The cherries are made out of marzipan that has real gold touches. It is served in a crystal goblet and a golden spoon.

Cleveland Cavaliers 2006-07 Preview
The main story for the Cavaliers in the 2006/07 season, as it has been for the past three and probably will be for the foreseeable future, is LeBron James. LeBron is by far one of the best young players that the league has seen in a very long time, and his performance last season was as impressive as any other players in the NBA.
LeBron James was third in the league last year with 31.4 points per game. His scoring numbers have improved every year since he has been in the league and there is no reason to expect a drop in production anytime soon. One thing that Cavaliers fans would be happy to see is an increase from his 6.6 assists a game. Once thought to be the heir apparent to Oscar Robertson, James still has a lot of work to do in getting his teammates more involved.
Playing aside LeBron in the upcoming season are role players such as Larry Hughes and Zydrunnas Illgauskas. Larry Hughes is coming off a slightly disappointing season in which he was injured for two-thirds of the year. He should benefit greatly from playing an entire season next to one of the best players in the league and return to his 2004 form when he averaged 22.1 points per game. Illgauskas is a great scorer at the center position and is usually the key to how well the team as a whole does. If he is able to set a tone early, the Cavaliers are very tough to beat.
Other role players who are expected to contribute to the team include Donyell Marshall, Damon Jones and Anderson Varejao. Marshall is an inconsistent scorer at the power-forward position who has a long range. Jones is another inconsistent shooter who can light it up from the three-point range. Both players are expected to improve upon mediocre 2005 seasons. Anderson Varejao is a pure energy player who can give the team a boost off of his reckless play. Varejao has to stay healthy, however, and make it past the sixty games played mark for the first time in his career.
Second-year head coach Mike Brown may not get much press, but there is no question that he got the job done last year by leading the Cavaliers to their first playoff berth in a long time and winning a playoff series. More will be expected from him and the team, however, in 2006/07 and Brown needs to make sure that his team is not happy with last years results. This is not a championship team yet, but they are only one or two players away from that status.

This book, an in-depth look at Ellis Schools of Tradtional Aikido's special brand of technique, strategy, philosophy as well as unique history, has taken about 15 years to compile, but will soon be offered in print by the world's leading publisher of martial arts material.
Trafford Holdings Ltd; is a privately-held corporation, registered in British Columbia, Canada. There are over 120 shareholders, including many authors and all the permanent employees. It was incorporated in 1991. In late 1995, Trafford opened it's doors and website. They are the first company in the world to offer an "on-demand publishing service," and they are the best.
The production of Positive Aikido has gone through numerous stages. The hand-drawings describing each of the positive techniques in traditional Aikido were begun in 1987 with the intention of providing new students with a reference guide - at the time to be photocopied for students in the USA and later possibly for the UK students as well. That plan however, never took hold as more and more drawings were produced. The drawings of the first four groupings were finished in 1991 and in 1993, the second four groupings were added, along with some transcripts from a recorded conversation between Sensei Ellis and Rogers on a long roadtrip between Dallas, Texas and Alamogordo, New Mexico. Rogers made his 1st Dan during that trip, and Positive Aikido picked up a lot of its histories and background information. Still, it was no more than a bunch of papers cobbled together from various sources.
In 1999 however, with the advent of digital photography, Sensei Rogers decided to augment the drawings with some digital photos and possibly put together a proper booklet for students in all the Ellis Schools. The photos however, required some supporting text - and there was a lot of other material which needed to be conveyed as well. The transcripts were re-written and cleaned up and the photos were digitally processed for the first four forms. During another visit to New Mexico, Sensei and his assistant Anita Wilson along with Sensei's son performed the demonstrations needed for the last four forms. Later, the first four forms were re-shot with Sensei Rogers and one of his first USA students, Jeff Glaze of New Mexico. By this time, Positive Aikido was being developed as a book.
The agent and publishers we first contacted agreed, but the material was still fairly rough. More photos were shot and extensive digital work was done on them to clarify technique. Additional sections were added to describe combat strategy and the philosophy behind "Positive Aikido". Sections on ethics and morals within the arts were developed along with material dealing with the selection of a martial art for beginners, and of course, the history section was strengthened and sharpened.
Lastly, a complete re-organisation of the material was accomplished with an addition of a section on pins and control and weapons (jo and sword). The finished work is comprised of more than 1000 photos, 600 hand-drawings and complex explanations and tips to make the techniques of Aikido work properly. It includes detailed writing on the "Positive" mindset as well as complete sections geared to beginners, intermediate students and advanced practitioners.
Although several traditional publishers expressed interest in printing the book, and initial negotiations were entered into with one California-based company, the advent of "print-on-demand" technology and the resulting new publishing market, made for a better alternative.
Of this book as it stands now, the authors say this - "There are a lot of books on Martial Arts out there, and this one fits into the crowd well - but it also stands alone in the sheer comprehensiveness of the work. It is a nearly complete representation of a single school's technique - it is a historical marker - a book of strategy - an ethical guide - a technical manual - and it is a chart, graph and manifest of all the things which make martial artists as a whole stand together as sisters and brothers with the same warrior spirit."
This letter of recommendation is from William (Bill) Woods Sensei. Sensei Woods was in the 1950's and 60's Aide and personal secretary to Kenshiro Abbe Sensei. At that time Sensei Woods was considered the most influential and powerful figure in British Martial Arts. In 1955 he was the British Judo Champion. He was the first person to be graded by Abbe Sensei to 1st dan in Kendo, holding certificate No 1, he was a key figure in the creation of the British Judo Council ( BJC ) and the International Budo Council ( IBC ).
